Dr. Sophie Thérèse Ambler is an academic historian gaining her PhD in medieval history from King’s College London and serves as a Reader in Medieval History at Lancaster University.

Her latest book: The Gates of Mercy: Soldiers, Kings and the Ascent of War in Medieval Britain explores thirteenth- and fourteenth-century Britain, when episodic conflict gave way to continual war.

An expert on medieval politics, warfare, and society, Dr. Ambler has contributed to major research initiatives like the Magna Carta Project. She is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the author of acclaimed books, including The Song of Simon de Montfort.
